Manic Monday Night

Back to school today....I missed my class so much and we had a great day! I did the usual after school organization and then went to pick up my sweet kids. Daniel was not feeling well so I came home and took his temp...100.7 He was full of cuddles and really wanted mommy. Lauren was a great help too. She put her brother on the couch, got him his apple juice, and made sure he was cozy. We ate an early dinner and my plan was to get the kids bathed early because I could tell they were tired. This is where the fun began...Now to my sweet and sassy 3 1/2 year old...Lauren.
I asked her if she needed to go potty and she insisted she did NOT. She was very sure in telling me "NO MOMMY!" As I sat by the fire catching up on my reading, the announcement came...10 minutes after I asked her previously if she had to go potty..."Mommy, I have to go potty!" "You need to go with me!" So I got up immediately, only to find her "peeing" on my freshly cleaned tile floor (in her panties and jeans, of course) in the kitchen (thank G_d she didn't hit the grout)..I said, "Lauren...I just asked you if you needed to go potty and you told me no....I don't pay a house cleaner to come clean so you can pee on my floors..." Her response was, "YES YOU DO MOMMY!" After that fun clean up...she decided to pick on her brother and was sent to time out for 4 minutes...she argued that four minutes was too long and she would not sit there for four minutes..only three minutes. So the timer went off on the microwave after the four minutes and I went over to the "time out sitting area in the living room to discuss the fact she was there because she was picking on her brother. I explained that it is not nice and she really needed to try and be a better listener and to play nice with Daniel. As I was speaking to her...she said, "Can you lower your voice mommy, you are giving me a headache!" I think I was about to explode but instead said, "You do not talk to mommy that way". She then said, "You are hurting my ears and making my head pound..are you done?" At this point I did my famous calling...for my hubby, Kirk. He comes out of his office only to make the situation worse by holding in his laugh...he heard it all.
My three year old is not only gorgeous...she has sass in her! Not sure where this came from (ha-ha!). To say the least, she really keeps me on my toes and I have to admit...I am worried-worried about when her hormones start to flow...pray for me!

Public Bathroom 101

We went to the Gaylord Texan to visit ICE last Sunday. The hotel was decorated so beautifully. As we walked in, I was holding Lauren's hand as Kirk held Daniel's. My
3 1/2 year old, Lauren says, "Mommy...this is so beautiful in here." "I have never seen anything decorated like this...It is gorgeous!" There were people around and one man heard how taken away she was with her 20-something year old vocab and he and a few others just laughed. As we proceeded to walk to the ICE exhibit, we had to make the 3 1/2 year old detour...the public restroom. I don't think I have visited so many public bathrooms since I was her age. Kirk and Daniel waited patiently (as they always do) It always takes Lauren 20 minutes to size up and comment on decor, faucet, toilet flusher, soap dispenser, paper towel dispenser, and sinks. There were only two stalls and about 6 other women in line. We walk in only to have Lauren state, "It smells like someone died in here!" I wanted to laugh and crawl under a rock all at the same time. The other women found it quite humorous and as our turn approached, we proceeded into the stall. As I prepared her to use the restroom, she informed me she had to go "poo-poo". She then asked if I wanted to play a game. Before I could answer, she proceeded with "Guess what kind of animal my poopy is going to be when it comes out". I am just melting at this point....telling her shhhhh-just go potty...Daddy and Daniel are waiting for us. She says, "It is brown, fluffy, and I think REALLY BIG MOMMY!" "It is going to be a rabbit". When she finishes her business, she tells me to look into the potty and decides for the both of us that she sees a dolphin. Although it takes much to get me embarrassed, this did it. Only because she was loud about the whole thing. As we left the bathroom, I thought to myself....another priceless moment. Our children bring so much love and laughter to our household. I cannot wait til Daniel is potty-trained and Kirk gets a taste of this!

The Beatles for Kids

Back at school after a week off. Lots of R&R. I was wondering what could be wrong this morning as my cell rang and saw it was my handsome hubby! It was about the kids....uh-oh
My two year old, Daniel received a gift that every two year old would want....at least a two year old who is "with the times".
He was given an autographed poster of "The Wiggles"....Yes, The Beatles -for kids of today!
Signed by Anthony, Sam, Murray, Jeff and Captain Feathersword...
It came from a "contact" of the Wiggles. My son is thrilled. I am thrilled. I cannot wait to take it for a mat and frame to add to his wall in his room.
I cannot wait to see his little face every night as he goes to bed and points at it and says, "My Wiggles"!
I cannot tell you how precious it was to have him "high fived" by Jeff at the last concert we attended. These men are idols in the eyes of my son..(they are GREAT in concert too-we have seen them twice)
I cannot wait for him to go to college so I can plant it in his dorm room or apt.
A mother's love....for her son and...................... The Wiggles.

It's Official..I have crossed to the other side

It has hit me...I really am a parent. I have had the honor of lugging my two year old to the emergency room for 5 stitches the day before Halloween. The saddest part was that we were all in the kitchen when he fell off a chair. Kirk was carving a pumpkin...I was doing dishes, my mother in law was sitting at the table across from Daniel. My brother in law, Vance was helping Kirk....Yes...we were all there...and he still fell and went "boom"!

Made me sad to see my two year old in pain....made me want to take the ouchy for him...made me want to kick some mommy butt when they put him on a board and tied him down to stitch him up. As Garcia would say, "Lazar, You are a NINJA!" :)~

I know this is probably one of many trips where my son will hurt himself. I put things in perspective though- My children are healthy, happy, and I thank G_d everyday for this!
I am blessed and lucky! Life is good to say the least!

Can You Say NUTCASE???

So I am running around like a chicken and notice I have a text from my sister. For all I know it could've been on my phone for days until I checked...but it had only been there an hour or so. She has two boys, ages (almost) 4 and 8. I always tell her how lucky she is because she travels for her job and gets that "alone" time to decompress, unwind, and just stare at four walls with no one to answer to (except her boss, of course!)...reality check!

In the text it states, "Do you want to laugh?" "I just finished crying...This *#^% called 911 on Aden (my almost four year old nephew) because he relieved himself on a bush."...That was all I needed to bust out into laughter and pick up my cell and phone my sister! That was the clarification as to why I moved back to TX....PEOPLE IN CA. ARE NUTS (and its more affordable, of course!).

My sister tells me that this lady was screaming at how my sister would not be driving a nice car if it weren't for her "old man"...(Does this lady know that my sister makes mucho dinero and needs no one to buy her a nice car and take care of her-???) The lady also told her she should get her tubes tied if she cannot take care of her child...along with numerous other not so nice things. It ended up a bystander stepped in to tell the lady to leave. By nephew was shook, my sister was shocked, and I was BEGGING for a redo with me right there with her...If you know me, you know my chemical DNA make-up.... Happy Tuesday all!!

It's Nonstop

Have you ever heard the song by Eric Clapton called "So Tired?"...
This is our life.
24/7 Entertainment, chasing, pleasing, worrying...

Yesterday was interesting. We woke up and started to get Lauren ready for dance class. However, as she has done for the past two weeks, she informed us loud and clear, "I am NOT going!" I proceeded with, "You get to dress up in your halloween costume and dance in it today." She told me again, "NO!...I am NOT going!"
I always look to Kirk for help because I feel a battle isn't worth it. There are bigger things to worry about then dance class on a Sat. I do think that the monthly tuition has something to do with it and making a commitment. I was always told to give things time, make a commitment....but how do I explain these thoughts to a 3 year old?? I don't.

We proceeded to go along with our monring when 10 minutes before dance starts she informs us that she wants to go! I told her she had missed that boat only to watch a tantrum before my eyes.
As we rushed through the house like maniacs getting her ready, my mind raced wondering why am I stressing to get her there? Again...it all goes back to wanting my child to make a commitment and enjoy a hobby at a young age.
She made the class two minutes late and had a great time! So on that thought...I continue to question, wonder, pray....Does parenting get better? I hear the challenges become bigger as the kids become bigger!
